Honeycomb Blinds in Qatar

Honeycomb blinds are pleated fabric formed into hexagonal cells that trap a layer of still air against the glass. They insulate better than any other blind we fit, cost about QAR 290–560 per square metre installed in Qatar, and come in single or double cell.

Honeycomb cellular blind on a sunlit Doha window

Every other blind stops light. A honeycomb stops heat as well, because the cell holds a pocket of still air between the room and the glass. On a west-facing window in July that is the difference between an AC that cycles and one that never stops.

Frequently asked questions

Do honeycomb blinds really cut cooling cost?

They measurably reduce heat gain through glass. The effect is biggest on single-glazed, west-facing windows in summer, and smallest on shaded or double-glazed north-facing ones.

Single or double cell?

Double cell for the hottest windows and for bedrooms you want quiet as well as cool. Single cell everywhere else — it is thinner, cheaper and still insulates well.

What is top-down bottom-up?

The blind can be lowered from the top as well as raised from the bottom, so you can cover the lower half of the window for privacy while daylight still comes over the top.
