What openness factor should I choose?
5% is the usual compromise in Doha — it cuts most glare and still shows the view. Choose 3% for a west-facing desk, 10% where the view matters more than the glare.
Can roller blinds be fully blackout?
Only with side channels. Blackout fabric alone still leaks a few millimetres of light down each edge, which is very visible in a dark bedroom.
Are roller blinds child safe?
Chain-operated blinds get a breakaway connector and a tensioner as standard. In rooms used by young children we recommend a spring or motorised blind with no chain at all.
