Engineered Parquet in Qatar

Engineered parquet has a real timber wear layer bonded to a stable plywood base, so it behaves in Gulf humidity where solid wood does not. In Doha it costs about QAR 190–420 per square metre installed, in plank or herringbone.

Herringbone engineered parquet in a Doha living room

This is the only floor on our list that is actually wood on the surface. A 2–4mm oak or walnut wear layer sits on cross-bonded plywood, which stops the cupping and gapping that ruins solid timber in a humid coastal climate.

It is the most expensive option we fit, and the only one you can sand and refinish a decade later instead of replacing.

Frequently asked questions

Engineered or solid wood in Qatar?

Engineered, without hesitation. Solid timber moves with humidity swings between an air-conditioned interior and outdoor air, and cups or gaps within a couple of years.

How many times can parquet be sanded?

Once or twice, depending on wear-layer thickness. A 2mm layer gives you one careful sanding; 4mm gives two.

Is herringbone more expensive to install?

Yes — more cutting, more waste and slower setting out, typically 20–35% more labour than straight plank.
